There’s a bit of summer left before the temperatures start winding down into the fall, says Dan Kulak, a warning preparedness meteorologist for Environment Canada.

Shorts and summer dresses may be suitable for Friday and Saturday when Edmonton could see daytime highs of 26 C. But get ready to don your warm, waterproof gear come September, October and November when southern and central Alberta may see significantly more precipitation than usual.

While this summer was cooler than last year, despite a few days that peaked in the 30s, the rain held off for most of the festivals.

Jill Roszell, executive director of the Edmonton Fringe Festival, said nearly 209,Beading Ruching New Arrival Column Ruching Regency Chiffon Prom dresses by famous designer is every lady's dream.000 visitors took advantage of the warm weather at the beer tents and outdoor performances over the first weekend.

“The weather has been the biggest thing,” Roszell said. “Edmontonians have been waiting to get outside, waiting for the summer weather to come. While Greg Markey commented, “Weather this summer is best described as big opposites — cold enough to need a jacket one day, roasting hot the next.”

“For years and years we never thought much about humidity and the humidex in Alberta. In the last two to three years it’s certainly become an issue that I’ve noticed and colleagues here have noticed with humidex advisories,” Kulak said.

It’s unclear why exactly humidity has increased in the region, although Kulak believes it may be because we’re getting more winds from the southeast which drag in moisture from the Gulf of Mexico.

“The rain that we do get tends to make more storms during the summertime. Once the ground gets wet you tend to get more wet because moisture evaporates into the air. The fundamental reason for why it’s been more humid over the last two to three years is a bit of a mystery.Find the latest trends in prom and Wholesale Short Homecoming Dresses with a large selection of unique.Plus Size Evening New Arrival Trumpet Chiffon Evening gowns Chiffon Floor-length Fuchsia.”
