For every theme, there are corresponding color motifs that would
perfectly complement your wedding celebration. Beach weddings usually
take on bright, sunny colors such as orange or New Red Bridesmaid Dress,
or cool soothing colors such as blue or green. Garden weddings go
perfectly well with pastel shades, especially peach, light green, or
pink. Or, you could opt to go for earth tones. Bridesmaid dresses ought
to take on the theme - well, most of them do, anyway. There are a few
here and there that totally divert from the mold.
Bridesmaid dresses
should not be white, however. And bridesmaid dresses should not be of
the same design as the wedding dress as well. In the olden days,
bridesmaids used to dress the same way as the bride to confuse the evil
forces. Nowadays, dressing your bridesmaids up with the exact same
design as your wedding dress is uhm.. plain crazy.
Bridesmaid dresses
should complement the affair - it should be sweet as wedding cakes in
Toronto and pleasing to the eye. Not slinky or dowdy. And, wedding
dresses should not be ugly - design-wise and color-wise.
Here are some of the colors you ought to avoid in picking out your bridesmaid dresses:
1.
Black - Unless your going for the Goth wedding of the century. Well,
even if you are planning to have the Goth wedding of the century, black
is not exactly the perfect choice. This would mean that all of you would
be clothed in black, AND you wouldn't stand out that way right?
2.
Purple - This is a wedding, not a funeral. Lavender is cute. Purple is
morbid. Unless you are Dracula's bride, that is. Purple, despite being
the color of royalty, carries with it a dark appeal. And that is a bad
start to have - especially if it's the rest of your life you're dealing
with.
3. Neon green - Apple green looks posh, neon looks tacky. The
colour itself would surely bring out headaches from your guests. Or a
nosebleed, in extreme cases.
4. Dirt Brown - Dull, at its finest.
Chocolate brown, dried leaf brown, any dark shade of brown brings on the
same effect. It is dull and does not reflect the beauty of the
occasion. Your bridesmaids dresses ought to be lovely and nice. Which,
brown could never portray in such an occasion.
5. Bright Pink - I've
seen it. Twice. And in both occasions it did not work. For one, pink may
be a sweet color, but overdoing it makes you wanna puke. Too saccharine
and too? uh, female, it does not create a balance for the female-male
union of soul.
6. Gold - Okay, so it is not exactly that bad. But
shiny, metallic gold is not pleasing to the eye, especially if you are
having a beach or garden wedding - or any sort of wedding held outdoors
for that matter. Your guests might be inclined to wear heavy sunglasses
with that. If that is indeed the color of your bridesmaids dresses, be
sure to print inside your invitation "Sunglasses needed for the
occasion."
